From blue-chip multinations with huge manufacturing sites to individual crafters working from home, we supply a wide range of customers directly and through our distribution network. Muzeum Mydła i Historii Brudu (the Museum of Soap and History of Dirt) was something completely new to Stephenson, James Clews visited to find out more.
One of the Museum’s founders, Daria Kieraszewicz, was running the tour guides around the city of Bydgoszcz in Poland, but wanted a focal point to finish on and for visitors to the city to interact with. Daria decided that a Museum all about the history of hygiene could be the perfect solution.
We started working with the Museum last year, and in September 2013 James jumped on a flight to Poland to visit the Museum for its 1st anniversary (James is not the person wearing the Top Hat.)
The tour covers sharing wooden bath tubs in the Dark Ages through to cleaning clothes in post-War Poland. Along the way, visitors meet various characters including an Apothecary, a house-wife and an orange salesman.

At the end of the tour the Museum’s resident Chemist demonstrates making cold-processed soaps, the process of saponification. Visitors then have the opportunity to make their own soaps using Stephenson’s Melt & Pour soap bases, adding their own colours and fragrances and keeping the soaps as a memento of their day in Bydgoszcz.
