How to Make Lemon & Bergamot Scrub Soap Bars

Lemon & Bergamot

The perfect scent for when you need a boost in energy, lemongrass is a clean and energising fragrance. Combined with bergamot essential oil, this bar soap is the ideal post-workout cleansing bar. Made using exfoliating, natural poppy seeds, this is a multi-functional and on trend bar, that also smells divine!

Here’s what you’ll need.

  • Crystal Triple Butter Base (1KG) x2
  • Loaf Mould
  • Lemon Grass Fragrance
  • Bergamot Essential Oil
  • Yellow Water Based Colour
  • Green Water Based Colour
  • Poppy Seeds
  • Dried Saffron Pettles
  • Rubbing Alcohol Spray

Begin by cutting 1kg of Crystal Triple Butter base in to small chunks and add to the microwave.

Step 2

Once your base is fully melted, you can add colour, fragrance and some of the poppy seeds. Take your water based colour and add small quantities using a pipette (if your colour is from concentrate you will need to dilute this with deionized/softened water). Add a few drops of lemon grass fragrance to your base along with two teaspoons of poppy seeds. Mix the colour, fragrance and poppy seeds until evenly dispersed.

Step 3

Using rubbing alcohol, spray the base of your soap loaf mould. Then add the yellow poppy seed base until the mould is just under half full. Leave to cool.

Step 4

I left my first layer for a few hours until making a start on the second layer.

Using a hand full of Crystal Triple Butter chunks, add to a separate jug and microwave in 15 second intervals until fully melted.

Check the temperature is around 60°C/140°F before pouring a layer that just covers the yellow layer, around a centimeter in depth. Leave to cool for around 2 hours, or until mainly set.

Step 5

Using the rest of your Crystal Triple Butter base, cut into small chunks and add to the microwave in 1 minute intervals until fully melted. Take your green water based colour and add small quantities using a pipette (if your colour is from concentrate you will need to dilute this with deionized/softened water). Add a few drops of bergamot fragrance to your base and mix until fully blended in.

Step 6

Your green base needs to be at 60°C/140°F before pouring as the final layer. Once this temperature is reached, check that your thin white layer is dry. Spray with rubbing alcohol and gently pour the green base on top. Spray with with rubbing alcohol once again, removing any unwanted bubbles on top. Working quickly, sprinkle saffron petals on top.

Step 7

Once your base is completely set, gently remove from the mould and cut accordingly. We always recommend wrapping your finished products.
